What are
the primary applications of the QuantiFluor™-ST Fluorometer?
The primary application for the QuantiFluor™-ST Fluorometer are nucleic acid and
protein quantitation. A list of the applications include:
DNA Quantitation Dyes, Hoechst 33258
RNA Quantitation Dyes
Protein Quantitation Dyes
What is
the sensitivity of the QuantiFluor™-ST Fluorometer?
The QuantiFluor™-ST 's sensitivity is defined in terms of the minimum detection
limits of dsDNA and RNA. The QuantiFluor™-ST Fluorometer can detect:

What is
the optical configuration of the QuantiFluor™-ST Mini-Fluorometer?
The QuantiFluor™-ST has two dedicated optical channels, UV and BLUE channels.
UV: Ex 365 nm, Em 440-470 nm
BLUE: Ex 460 nm, Em 515-575 nm
What size
sample tube/cuvette is standard with the QuantiFluor™-ST Fluorometer?
The standard cuvette size for the QuantiFluor™-ST Fluorometer is 10 x 10 mm plastic
cuvettes. With the opional Minicell Adapter, 50 - 250 µl minicell vial can be used.
What is
the Minicell Adapter?
The QuantiFluor™-ST Minicell adapter is designed to accommodate the measurement
of small volume samples. The design of the focusing lenses allows you
to measure fluorescence samples in a much reduced assay volume without
losing sensitivity.
Do the
sample tubes/cuvettes require minimum volumes? If so, what are they?
Sample tubes do require minimum volumes so that enough sample is exposed
to the incoming light. The minimum volumes are as follows:

What kind
of cuvettes should I use with the QuantiFluor™-ST Fluorometer?
Methacrylate or polystyrene 10 x 10 mm cuvette, or 10 x 10 mm adapter that
is designed for fluorescence measurement is appropriate. Due to the natural
fluorescence properties of polystyrene, this material is not recommended
for UV applications. The following sample tubes and cuvettes are available
for purchase from us:
10 x 10 mm Square Polystyrene Cuvette (3.5 mL)
10 x 10 mm Square Methacrylate Cuvette (3.5 mL)
Minicell Borosilicate Glass (50-250 mL)
Can I
use a quartz or glass cuvette?
The sample compartment cannot accept glass or quartz cuvettes.
Does the
QuantiFluor™-ST Fluorometer have changeable optical filters?
No, the QuantiFluor™-ST Fluorometer does not have changeable optical filters.
If the QuantiFluor™-ST Fluorometer's optical configuration does not fit your application
requirement, please see information about the
GloMax-Multi Jr Single Tube Multimode Reader.
What is
the dynamic range of the QuantiFluor™-ST Fluorometer?
The dynamic range of the QuantiFluor™-ST Fluorometer is 4 logs, assay dependent.
